There are a number of options to consider when connecting your automatic gate opener to a power source. You could hook up your system to an AC power outlet, which will provide energy for as long as your local power keeps running. AC power is a reliable choice, but another way to keep your single or dual gate opener moving is through solar powered accessories. Using solar power will also provide your driveway single swing gate with energy, though the source only relies on the sun to be shining and can be used off the grid. Each option will have different requirements for safe usage with the right battery kit.

Most commonly, you can't go wrong with including an ABBT2 Battery Box Kit with your order. It supplies you with two 12 volt batteries and a harness for housing them near your electric driveway gate. Additionally, we sell individual 12 volt batteries as a part of our catalog of accessories, meaning you can easily purchase a replacement should the need arise.
However, there are certain circumstances in which we tend to recommend opting for a more capable option to store your gate opener's energy. Deep cycle marine batteries are often used to power boats and are utilized for their impressive durability, power capacity, and lifespan of up to six years before diminishing. Although used for boats, these power banks have a variety of other applications, namely the ability to be used with Ghost Controls® automatic gate openers.
Our technical support team will routinely tell our consumers that depending on their gate's setup, they may be better off using a deep cycle marine battery. Most solar installations will find safer and more reliable operation when using this power bank.
A deep cycle marine battery is also well equipped for specific circumstances, such as gate owners using large solar panels with higher outputs than our 30 watt panels. The higher output of energy will put a normal 12 volt battery at risk of damage or failure, meaning a deep cycle marine battery is a safer and more preferable option.
Connecting certain third party accessories, such as timers, with your swing gate operators will also call for a deep cycle marine battery. We urge our customers to use these batteries at their own discretion, though they are always a safer, more capable alternative to the regular 12 volt batteries you can find on our website and select retailers.
